Czech Glass Mermaid Beads: Periwinkle Blue with Gold Wash (25x5mm, Pack of 2)

These are a real find. Each pack contains two Czech glass mermaid beads in a lovely periwinkle blue with a warm gold wash over the detail work, giving them that slightly antique, bohemian feel that works so well in handmade jewellery. They measure 25x5mm, so they have a good presence without being too heavy, which makes them particularly well suited to earrings or pendants where you want a focal bead that does the talking on its own.

The mermaid shape is beautifully defined, and the gold wash sits in all the right places to bring out the sculpted detail. Pair them with simple seed beads or small faceted rounds and let these do the work. They also sit nicely alongside other bohemian Czech glass if you are building something more layered.

Made by artisanal glassworkers in the Czech Republic, these are not easy to come by in the UK, so they tend to go quickly once people spot them.
